The Oulu Wellness Institute – development in the wellness industry since 2006

The Oulu Wellness Institute (OWI) is a non-profit foundation established to develop business expertise in the wellness industry, advance national and international growth in the field, and activate co-operation between different actors within the field.

The purpose of the foundation is to improve and maintain wellness by supporting, promoting and developing international wellness business and know-how, wellness research and training, and the development of service systems in the Oulu region.

OWI advises wellness companies to develop their business activities with a customer- and market-oriented approach, and to improve their possibilities for success in the international market. OWI advises entrepreneurs of funding possibilities and builds connections in between.

Objective

The primary objective for OWI is to develop the wellness industry into one of the factors driving the success of the Oulu region. OWI actively works toward this objective in co-operation with other actors. With OWI´s contributions, the health and wellness services and service systems in the Oulu region will evolve and the field will benefit from innovations and successful international business.

OWI advances and trains companies

OWI evaluates and guides individual business initiatives and supports the further development of ideas, market expertise acquisition and the building of networks. To date, OWI has contributed to the business development of over 250 companies. OWI also organises training and events on upcoming influential trends within the industry.

OWI networks and internationalises wellness professionals

OWI has built up an active and open community representing the wellness industry. Through its network, wellness companies gain contacts and support for funding acquisition. A few of OWI´s most noteworthy international projects include creating direct routes to the markets in the USA and Japan and an extensive international network of contacts.
